Event Description

Galleri F15 Library, which is usually closed to the public, will be transformed into our on-site specific artwork "Bread and Butter Bookshop." Fotobook DUMMIES Day is going to exhibit our archive of photobooks and self-publishing works by Taiwanese and Southeast Asian image and book makers. Doodling, chatting and snacking as methods for reading photobooks afar

At the Open Edit Table, we'll delve into discussions about the selected photo publications by our guest hosts - through the eyes of artists, self-publishers, editors, and designers. We'll apply doodling, note-making, highlighting, and chit-chatting as critical methods for reading photobooks. Contrary to what others tell you - We're definitely going to read and eat at the same time! Special Taiwanese snacks will be served. Guest hosts: Studio150 and Sveinn Fannar Jóhannsson

The first event will feature Studio150 as the guest host. Studio150 is a Bangkok-based design duo, publisher, and co-founders of Bangkok Artbook Fair. The duo specializes in graphic design, typography, book design, and storytelling. The second event will have artist and publisher Sveinn Fannar Jóhannsson as the guest host. Sveinn runs Multinational Enterprises, an artists-run platform that focuses on publishing, promoting, and collecting artists' publications and related materials.

On-site collective publication: Abstract

After the event, Fotobook DUMMIES Days will gather the physical and abstract traces and compile them into a collective publication called "Abstract." We will hitchhike the Momentum 12 monthly publication mechanism to publish our work throughout the duration of the biennale. "Abstract" will serve as an alternative photobook review for Bread and Butter Bookshop, inviting local readers to explore these artbooks that have traveled from afar. About Fotobook DUMMIES Fotobook DUMMIES Day focuses on image, self-publishing, and locality, with a practice of connecting communities, facilitating dialogue, and using unconventional exhibition spaces.

This time, we are going to open up the Galleri F15 Library, which is usually closed to the public, to turn it into an on-site specific artwork called "Bread and Butter Bookshop". We're using reading, chatting, and self-publishing to spark a conversation: Is the desire to own a photobook similar to buying bread or butter for daily consumption?

Our aim with Bread and Butter Bookshop is to expand the "book space" of photobooks into the "exhibition space". We will extend and hitchhike the mechanism of the biennale by connecting unconventional space, workshops, and collective self-publishing - Bread and Butter Bookshop, Open Edit Table and alternative review Abstract - as the exhibiting method. We hope to explore the desire to read photobooks from afar, and discover how to unfold them in a new place from both the makers' and readers' perspectives.
