Welcome to the lecture with New York based curator Bob Nickas on the Norwegian photographer Tom Sandberg.
On the occasion of the new monograph Tom Sandberg: Photographs, published by Aperture with Tom Sandberg Foundation, we invite you to this lecture with New York based curator Bob Nickas. Nickas has organized more than one hundred exhibitions since 1984, including Tom Sandberg: Photographs 1989–2006 at MoMA PS1.
Norwegian photographer Tom Sandberg (1953–2014) is considered a pioneer. A master of light in the great photographic tradition, he worked exclusively with the medium of black-and-white analogue photography. His remarkable poetic vision and expression is imbued with a strong sense of presence and mystery. Sandberg’s international recognition had its peak with the solo exhibition at MoMa PS1, New York, in 2007, curated by Bob Nickas. His work is found in a number of museums as well as public and private collections, such as the Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris, and the Astrup Fearnley Collection.
The event is presented in collaboration with Tom Sandberg Foundation and is held at the Astrup Fearnley Museum November 24th at 6-8pm.
The event is free and open to everyone.
