'Den nye byen' is an exhibition with photos of Oslo spanning 15 years. In this time period, artist Adrian Bugge has documented his personal impressions from a constantly changing city, and especially documented Oslos biggest estate development project, Fjordbyen.
The photographs is Bugges visual interpretation of disputed places and buildings such as Barcode, the new Munch museum and Sukkerbiten.
"I started documenting the partially closed bay areas that few people were interested in before they were to be demolished. Afterwards the area was completely changed, and these old photos got a new meaning. In the new areas of Oslo, I have tried to look past the traditional postcard-type-motives and have rather tried to capture how I personally experience them," says Bugge.
Earlier in 2019, he released the photo book 'Den nye byen' at Kunstbokforlaget. The exhibition can be seen as an extension of this release, with an entirely new set of pictures taken from the book not shown before.
The exhibition opens September 5th at 6pm and is shown until September 29th. During Oslo Kulturnatt September 13th, Fotografiens Hus is hosting an event where writer Ole Robert Sunde is in conversation with writer Hans Petter Blad and architect Halvor Weider Ellefsen. Both Blad and Ellefsen have contributed with texts in Bugges book release.
The exhibition is supported by Fritt Ord Foundation.
