Brigitte Bo Stolpmann works with photomontagé, an artistic expression which gives her the opportunity to expand the traditional photographic gaze. Stolpmann says herself that; "The montagé summarizes the time - the present, past and future - historical layers - to create a new form of expression - simultaneity (...) It tears the impressions apart, behind each other - to create a coherent experience where me and the world and time becomes one." She addresses the contradictions in her montages, where the difference between the rural and the urban, the esthetic and overdue meet.

Stolpmann is educated from the University of Applied Sciences i Tyskland, where she is born and raised. She studied photo design with emphasis on contemporary photography. She has been living in Norway since 1979, and works as a senior lecturer in art history at the University of Oslo.
