"Question: How do you flee from the reality of a prison? Answer: I close my eyes, read, pray, take drugs, cry, follow strict routines, I have our love, I dream that I fly, I take antidepressive, wash and clean, compose songs, laugh and make others laugh, I have my child, I have tried everything, nothing helps."

Textile, video, photography, embroidery, loom, writing: everything revolves around the lives of a few female inmates in Norway and Spain. All the works are a result of volunteer work in prisons in the two countries. Several of the works are made in direct dialogue with the female inmates.

Katharina Barbosa Blad (b. 1962) lives and works in Oslo.
